Last post!

At the beginning of the project, my aims were to improve my technical skills and also create an effective opening sequence.

I think that I managed to improve my technical skills, since I can use Adobe Premier to a higher level than before. In some ways my camerawork skills have improved, although I'm still not all that confident with taking movement shots, so I do still need to improve on that.

Overall, I'm fairly pleased with our opening sequence. Some of the camera work and editing is really good, but the whole chase sequence is really irrelevant to the rest of the film. In fact, only the last shot of the photos on the wall really has any relevance to the rest of the film. In retrospect, when thinking of ideas for our opening sequence, we probably should have also considered what the rest of the film would be about.

During the project, I've learnt a few things. For example, I've learnt how to work in a group with people I wouldn't have necessarily expected to work with. Other things I've learnt include:

  • Shooting outdoors in the winter is perhaps not the best of ideas.
  • Chase sequences are really quite hard to shoot well

On the whole, I think the group worked quite well together. There were a few disagreements towards the end of the project, but we generally managed to work them out. I was quite good at compromising, but I do think that I probably should have demonstrated more leadership skills and been more assertive in expressing my opinion. This is something that I will need to keep trying to improve on.
